The “International Conference on Neurotrophic Factors 2018” will be held in Salamanca, Spain on June 23th-26th at the Hospedería Colegio Arzobispo Fonseca WEB page venue. The 2018 meeting will be the 14th meeting in the series, and will coincide with the 8th-century foundation of the University of Salamanca. During the last thirty-two years from the original conference, which was also held in Monterey, California in honor of Rita Levi-Montalcini on her 77th birthday, many seminal discoveries have been presented at these meetings.
As in previous NGF meetings, we plan a broad scope and will cover both basic research and clinical applications of NGF and the greater family of neurotrophic factors. In keeping with Rita's long-standing interests in supporting young people and their science, the program will feature a prominent role for students, postdoctoral fellows and young investigators. Salamanca is a beautiful historical city located at the northwest of Spain that is particularly well-suited for the meeting as it regularly hosts retreats and forums designed to allow maximum interactions between participants young and old.
The Organizing Committee, chaired by Juan Carlos Arévalo and José Frade, includes Ralph Bradshaw, Moses Chao, Keri Martinowich and William Mobley. An international program committee will provide oversight and support the goal of engaging young colleagues. We will provide regular updates as the program and other arrangements dictate.
The first Monterey meeting was an enormous success and heralded the developments that have made neurotrophic factor biology among the most important areas of neuroscience. We hope you will join us to celebrate the event, to exchange data and insights and to share in the excitement of envisioning the next thirty years of neurotrophic factor science and its applications. Please mark your calendars to come join us on the beautiful city of Salamanca, Spain!
